SEC Football, where the best teams play and get done in by the BCS.
Don't look now, but going into Baton Rouge next week the winner of that game controls their own destiny in the SEC West. AU on the road is a great set up for AU.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

Yeah they get the shaft. I still say there wasn't a team in 04 that could have taken down AU in 04. And I know everyone wants to whine USC this, USC that...but we all know what USC is made of.

I really think if you had a playoff you'd have at least two SEC teams in the final four.

More like you'd have 2 playing for it all 75% of the time.

wow, you really think au stands a chance?
they were pitiful tonight

who knows how good the SEC is. I think they are deep but to what degree, I dont know because the convulutedness of college football is eye popping. Lets say this, there are no great teams in any conference. You have Cal who spanks UT, loses to Oregon State who gets spanked by Cincy. I know Longshore didnt QB but at the end of the day it doesnt matter. Then you have South Carolina who ends up a touchdown better than a not so great North Carolina team. Is USF a top 5 team, probably not. Are they good enough to beat Auburn, obviously so. So lets just stop the whole, this conference is better than that conference convo. It doesnt mean jackshat, its one of the worst discussions on this board because it still comes down to matchups. If there was one year where we dont even need this arguement, its this year. There is no ryhme or reason to results this season. 40 point underdogs going out and winning. Forget a can of worms, Appy State opened a whole case The national champ may end up with 2-3 losses.
There is no argument, the SEC will send LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, and with 2 more wins Miss. St. to bowl games this year. More than likely 2 of these teams will go to a BCS bowl. This is now and always THE premier conference in college football. PERIOD.
There are good teams in there no doubt, it probably is the deepest conference in terms of quality teams but that doesnt make those teams elite. Bama is no better than FSU, South Carolina is slightly better than UNC. UT isnt as good as Cal, Auburn isnt better than USF apparently, Kentucky is a little better than Louisville. The point is, theres plenty of mediocrity in college football. To say one conference is better at this point than another is silly when the nation doesnt even know who the top 5-10 teams in college football even are. The conference debate is dumb when you can put Team A from one conference against Team B from another and team A dominate, then Team A could get dominated by Team C from the other conference all the while Team D dominates Team C. Who farkin cares what conference they are from. Every team stands on their own and every game is different with different matchups. Apparently people dont know geography because you'd think that Oregon was supposed to join the SEC. Im not going to say anymore though. These are the type of threads that turn into useless ten page wastes of time. I'll go prepare to watch some nfl games until the AFC/NFC thread gets started.
It's college football, on any given day, any team can pull out a win. This years national championship race is going to be a good one. I think after this year, it will be evident a playoff system is needed.
